Before having kids we would have date nights every single week. Something as simple as going to the movies, grabbing dinner, going to the beach, simple yet fun. After having kids, it became harder, specially since we've always lived away from family, so finding a sitter we trusted became hard. I'm not going to lie, there were times when we went months without going out, just us two. Now, we make it a goal to go out once or twice a month, just us two. We found a sitter we love (so do the kids) and we enjoy that time alone. It has been a great way for us to reconnect, talk about our goals, have random conversations - without interruptions ;) and simply enjoy one another. This has become a priority for us, to take the time and be with one another and I love every minute of it.
